Inch strand was the venue last Sunday for the TraleeBay Sea Angling Club's shore angling competition, sponsored by Landers Outdoor World. This is always a very keenly contested event because of the very fine prizes on offer, generously sponsored annually by Tim and Liz Landers of Landers Outdoor World Tralee.
Twenty nine anglers took to the beach at ten am on Sunday hoping to be one of the lucky ones. The weather on the day was ideal for angling with a mild breeze and the rain holding off. The fishing was patchy with parts of the beach producing while other pegs were slow. Nonetheless seventy one fish were recorded, comprising of bass flounder and dogfish.
In the juveniles the Corbett family went home very happy with two of Joshs' understudies getting in the prizes and substantially increasing their tackle collection. Gavin collected first prize while Craig took third place, while Michael Kelliher also left with a beaming smile and lots of tackle by taking second spot. In the seniors, Phil Orde has extended his lead at the top of the master angler charts with a clear win on Sunday and with only a couple of competition to go this year Phil will surely hold on to top spot. Vincent Tierney took second place with John Tobin in third. These two lads, though relatively newcomers to the club have proven themselves to be very consistent anglers.
All in all, a great day out was had by everyone!
